With this recipe that he offers us, and that you can also cook with your children, letting them be the ones they want to batter the torrijas before you fry them in the pan, you can enjoy an exquisite dessert in Easter week. Thanks to the aroma of cinnamon and sugar, together with the honey bath, the bread becomes a simple but very rich dessert for children.

  • 1 loaf of stale bread
  • 1 l. milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 lemon
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • Olive oil
  • Honey
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Sugar

1- Bring a saucepan to the fire with the milk, one or two cinnamon sticks (a teaspoon of ground cinnamon) and the lemon rind. When it starts to boil, remove from heat and pass the milk through a strainer. Let it cool and reserve.

2- Cut the bread into thick slices, placing each slice in an orderly manner in a slightly deep source. When the milk is cold, cover the slices with it until they are completely soaked.

3- Very carefully, remove the slices of bread from the milk and pass them through the previously beaten eggs, with the help of a spoon. Then fry them in plenty of hot oil, one by one, always making sure they do not burn or break.

4- When they are golden brown, remove them from the oil and put them to drain on absorbent paper. Before placing them in a source, coat them in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon powder. If you want, you can water them with the leftover milk or honey.
